Time for another installment of this thing-- whatever it is! Mahaha~!!!

Silent Hill Crossover Idea Dump [Previous dumps: 000, 000.5 (lol) , 0001]

This time there be a few character profiles and some plot notes.
I always do these things when it's dawn and I'm half-awake while horror films play in the background to keep me awake, so the art I produce in this groggy state are all bad sketches.

I'll be describing stuff in a sort of 'game-concept' POV too because I am crazy like that.
Whattt?! I can dream! I can dream that this will be a game someday! (<-- I really like this shiny thing)

The Subtitle
All Silent Hill games have a cool subtitle. E.g. "Letter from Lost Heaven", "Born from a Wish", "Shattered Memories" ... and as I'm not very good at thinking up of titles, I'm having a hard time thinking up of one for the two scenarios in this story.

From Yao's game scenario: Waste on Unfounded Guilt (?) (Huhu I'm gonna keep thinking.)

Characters

Ivan Braginski
(Main playable character)


Originally born and raised in Silent Hill, Ivan left his hometown after a tragic sequence of events had led him to commit terrible acts of violence against his childhood friend; Toris Laurinatis.
Believing to have killed Toris, he ran away and opted to start a new life in another town. However two years later, a candid photo in an old newspaper clipping urged him to return to Silent Hill and seek the truth, and to finally face that which he had tried so hard to escape.



Yao Wang
(Playable. Yao's game scenario will be unlocked only after completing Ivan's scenario once in Normal mode)

A young Chinese man who is looking for his foster brother in Silent HIll.
He is saved by Ivan from being attacked by an unknown creature early on in the game, and he accompanies Ivan until they reach the hotel beside Toluca Lake, where he claims his brother is staying.

While Yao is in your party, attacks received from certain monsters are reduced by 20%.




Kiku Honda
(Non-playable)

Yao's comatose younger brother. It's unclear why Yao is looking for Kiku in Silent Hill, while constantly mentioning that he is in a coma and confined in the hospital. Ivan is confused but doesn't pursue the matter until they reach the hotel beside Toluca Lake. (I friggin forgot the hotel's name. Dang. I think it's Lakeside Hotel or something? OTL.)

Little Vanya
(Non-playable)

A young boy whom strongly resembles Ivan.
He only appears when Ivan is not around and he often spouts cryptic hints. He doesn't seem to see any monsters and doesn't seem to be afraid either. It's a mystery why he seems to know so much.

He seems to be fond of Yao.






Toris Laurinatis
(Non-playable)

Ivan's childhood friend.
The incident from two years ago seemed to have left him in a state of psychosis.
He constantly writes letters to Ivan despite being advised not to strain his injured fingers. The letters are never sent, but Ivan finds them as he traverses town, scattered in certain locations.






Note that everyone in this universe, if not completely insane, are all slightly insane. They're all not right in the head somehow. (Especially the writer. Haha...)

There are more characters... I just haven't thought up of who to include yet. So far these guys will definitely make appearances in the game.

Modifications:
At first I wanted Ivan to be drawn back to the old town by a letter from Toris. However, I had been reluctant about that from the beginning since that's exactly the same way James was lured back by Maria. I don't wanna be that much of a rip-off. Hahaha~!

So I changed it and made it like this: Ivan sees an old newspaper clipping. Probably a year or so dated back. In it is an article about the shutting down of Silent Hill Asylum due to the town's declining state after a terrible earthquake.
In the article are three or so photos and on one of them, some patients are included in the shot. Ivan recognizes Toris as one of the patients.
He is overwhelmed by the possibilities; he could be right or Toris could be dead and the guy could just be someone who resembles him perfectly...
He tries to call the asylum but the line is cut. He dares not call the people he used to know in town either.
His dreams are haunted and he remains restless until he finally decides to return to confirm his suspicions for himself .

Random Backstory stuff
(Uhm, everything here might still change of course. These are all drafts...)

Ivan's family is actually part of the cult who worships the devil (god) Samael. Ivan was intended to be a 'sacrifice' when he was a child. However his mother backed out from the deal and refused to let them use her son to reincarnate Samael.
Shortly after he was born, his mother died so the cult members got to do as they pleased with him still.

As part of the gradual rebirth ritual, he was imbued with strange abilites such as some level of telekinesis and telepathy. These produced side-effects such as schizophrenia in which he would exhibit two personalities: a kind, timid boy and a cruel, sadistic one.

He was treated as a freak by other children and society.
Mistaking Toris's pity and fear for friendship, Ivan saw him as his only friend.

So Ivan is a really pretty boy and he mostly exhibits his timid self to the world, but he seems to be unable to properly interact with other kids and he is thought to have 'a world of his own' and an over-active imagination.
A couple of seniors decide to gang up on him one dusk (read: gang rape. Yes I am sick.) while he and Toris are walking home.
He is assaulted and he begs for Toris' help, but instead he witnesses one of the seniors threaten Toris to leave and not tell anyone and the boy agrees prior to running away.

Afterwards Ivan comes home in a sort of daze. He doesn't tell anyone what happened to him and the cult doesn't really care for his well-being anyway.
He resumes his normal routine and the rituals continue but he distances himself from people even more and grows even more unstable.
He stays like this for some time, probably a year or so, until certain circumstances lead him to be alone with Toris.
All his emotions are vented on his childhood 'friend' and for the first time since the incident, he confronts the boy on why he had abandoned/betrayed him.

Toris apologizes but Ivan's 'dark' persona mocks him and violently attacks his betrayer with a knife.
Once his anger and frustrations die down though, his more timid persona regains control and is devastated to see the damage he had done. He leaves Toris for dead.

On Little Vanya:
Vanya refers to Ivan as if he were a different person, but in fact he's just the representation of Ivan's lost innocence.
He likes Yao because of his innate kindness/motherliness/big brotherliness (lol) and he knows that Ivan had fallen in love with him even before Ivan himself realizes it.
Vanya is stronger than Ivan emotionally and often criticizes Ivan for having a very weak heart in the figurative sense.
